Living urban space is Stockholm City's strategy for the public space. This concept includes outdoor cafes, activities, events and culture. Urban Plays was performed as a design / art assignment for Stockholm's events department. The installation was on site at Skeppsbron in Stockolm 18/7-22/8 -21.
The installation on Skeppsbron is part of a collection of different modules intended for spontaneous physical activity, play and movement in the urban space. Urban Plays welcomes all generations. The shapes are reminiscent of a giant scale jackstraw game where seemingly spontaneously placed tubes create different
spatialities and functions The installations include a hamster wheel for people, hammocks, balance logs and hammocks.
The installation was assembled on site for four days - with plumbing clamps. The cardboard sleeves were pre-treated with mud paint and linseed oil. The hamster wheel is made of CNC milled plywood and larch wood.
